For Veterinarians
Why consult?
Neurologic disease poses a unique challenge in veterinary patients, while transfer to specialty hospitals can be daunting to pet owners.
What if neurologic conditions could be accurately diagnosed and treated under the care of you as their primary care veterinarian?
Virtual Veterinary Neurology was created with this idea in mind.
In fact, a 2016 study* conducted by the veterinary Collaborative Care Coalition established that “dogs in congestive heart failure co-managed by a veterinary specialist and primary care veterinarian lived 77% longer and generated 22% more revenue at the primary care practice than those managed by a primary care veterinarian alone”.
Similar data could be extrapolated to the co-managed care of neurologic patients - those with seizure disorders, for example, requiring on-going and often complex multi-modal anticonvulsant therapy.

The Consult Process
Welcome to Virtual Veterinary Neurology!
Think of me as your personal on-call neurologist so that you never have to manage a neurologic patient on your own. MRIs and spinal taps are certainly ideal, but there is so much we can provide our neurologic patients in your primary care setting. I aim to help you confidently provide that care.
My virtual consultation services are veterinarian-to-veterinarian, therefore I provide recommendations that you then carry forward to your patients. How the consultation process works is as follows:
1) Evaluate your neurologic patient and gather pertinent information.
-
signalment and relevant history
-
video of clinical signs (posture, gait, neurologic episodes and recovery, exam highlights, etc)
-
exam findings
-
recent bloodwork / radiographs
-
recent therapy and treatment response
2) Request a consultation on the bookings page. The consultation fee is required upon confirmation of your requested booking. The consult fee is reimbursable upon 24 hours' notice of cancellation.
3) Please provide precise, detailed information on your booking form. This information will be reviewed and discussed during the time of consultation. Videos obtained of the pet displaying the neurologic abnormalities, at home or in the hospital setting, are invaluable. Please email any pertinent videos and medical records to virtualvetneurology@gmail.com
4) For further inquiries, please complete the contact form.
**A written summary of our discussion will not be provided. Therefore, note-taking is strongly encouraged for your clinic’s medical records.**
